Overview

What these terms cover

Not legal advice. This page is published for transparency about how this website operates. It is not legal advice and it has not been reviewed by an attorney. Before relying on it, or before using it as the legal terms of a business, have a qualified Texas attorney review and adapt it.

These terms apply to the use of this website. They are not a construction contract. Any work we carry out is governed by a separate written agreement, and where that agreement and this page disagree, the agreement governs.

Cost figures are estimates, not quotes

Every price range and calculator result on this site is a planning estimate. The calculators use published cost bands and general assumptions about a typical build, and they cannot see your ground, your access, your utilities or your drawings. A real price comes from a site visit and a written scope.

Nothing on this site is an offer, and no result produced by a calculator is capable of being accepted as one.

Code and permit information

This site publishes building code text, design criteria, permit fees and jurisdiction information, naming the authorities that publish them. That material is included because it is useful and because it is usually missing elsewhere. It is still general information.

Codes are amended, fee schedules change, and zoning changes. The City of Amarillo adopted new zoning provisions in September 2025 while the zoning document publicly hosted on the City website predates that, which is a good illustration of how quickly published guidance ages. Confirm anything you intend to rely on with the authority that administers it, and treat nothing here as a code determination for your property.

Statements about jurisdiction

This site states that Texas counties have no general authority to adopt or enforce a residential building code, and describes the narrow exception in Texas Local Government Code Chapter 233. That is a description of state law as published, not legal advice about your particular property, and it does not mean no rules apply outside a city. Septic permitting, floodplain regulation, platting and the state electrical code all continue to apply.

Illustrations

The illustrations on this site are drawings produced for it. They are diagrams of construction details, load paths, soil profiles and sun angles, drawn to explain the point being made on the page. They are not photographs, they are not stock images, and they are not pictures of projects built by this business. Where our own project photographs are published they will be identified as such.

External links

We link to city, county, state and industry sources so you can check what we have written. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content, and a link is not an endorsement.

Using the content

The text, layout and design of this site belong to the business. You are welcome to read it, print it and quote it with attribution. Republishing substantial parts of it as your own content is not permitted.

Availability

We try to keep the site accurate and available, and we cannot promise either without interruption. Content may be updated or removed without notice, which is usually a sign that something in the underlying code or fee schedule changed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas.
